This is a daily evening ritual and thousands gather to witness it and take part in the ceremonies, bathing in the after-glow of one of the most important ceremonies of the Hindus... Temple bells clang and priests pray, devotees follow in rapt devotion - Hinduism at its harmless best! Haridwar is a very old city mentioned in the accounts of Huien Tsang, the famous 7th century Chinese traveller. It is the site of many religious festivals. Most notably, once every twelve years it is the venue for the Kumbh Mela, humanity's largest festival, which drew a record 70 million in 2003.
