Scenes from Chapchar Kut 2018, a major cultural festival of the Mizo people in Mizoram. The festival ground is filled with spectators, decorated stages, flags and participants taking part in parades and performances. Women in traditional Mizo clothing perform Cheraw, the bamboo dance, while other groups combine traditional dress with contemporary costumes and themes. A Gospel Centenary float marks a historical milestone in Christianity among the Mizo people, while a children's contingent carries a Santosh Trophy Champion placard. A staged social-awareness performance featuring a mock wine shop and messages against alcohol sales is also presented during the festival programme.
