A mesmerising Indian classical music performance features the legendary Santoor maestro Pandit Bhajan Sopori performing alongside his son Abhay Rustum Sopori and renowned tabla virtuoso Ustad Akram Khan. The special concert was organised by the French Embassy in India to celebrate its “Ruby Year,” marking forty years of cultural presence and diplomatic engagement in the country. At the heart of the performance is the Santoor, a trapezoidal stringed instrument from the Kashmir Valley. The instrument produces its distinctive, shimmering sound when its many strings are gently struck with delicate, curved wooden mallets known as calms.
