A musical band leads a horse-drawn lorry on the streets of Delhi as part of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. The festival celebrates the birthday of Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity of the Hindus. Hindus celebrate the festival through fasts, rituals and the last day of the festival is marked by the procession carrying Ganesha's idol. The devotees carry the idol in a procession with music and devotional chants and take it to be immersed in a water body. The festival is either celebrated at home or in public places where a Pandal or temporary stage is made and throngs of devotees participate in the festival.
