Naga technology - Using water to grind rice husk

In the olden days when machines were not invented, Nagas used this system to grind rice husk. This traditional method shows that a water pipe is used to fill a wooden log tub to make the tub heavy so that it hits rice husk on the other side for proper grinding. Here, the wooden grinder is displayed during Hornbill Festival 2013 for all visitors to see the traditional Naga lifesyle at Kisama Heritage Village in Nagaland. Nagaland’s biggest annual festival, the Hornbill Festival (1–10 December) is celebrated here with various Naga tribes converging for a weeklong cultural, dance and sporting bash, much of it in full warrior costume.
