Yaoshang festival celebrants converge for lighting torches, in Manipur

Manipuris from all walks of life gathered for the torch lighting relay at Kangla Fort, Manipur. Torch Relays has become an important event of Yaoshang Festival. On the first Morning of Yaoshang (Manipuri Holi) every the youth organisations of every locality all around Imphal, the capital town of Manipur organises torch relays. Atghletes and volunteers of each locality lands up in Kangla Fort. They light their torches with the sacred fire at Uttra Sang inside the fort. All the groups return back on foot to their respective localities. There they install the torch, hoist their organisation flags thus marking the commencement of the year's Yaoshang Sports Meet which continues throughout the five days of Yaodshang Festival.
