In an ironic contrast, these women walk past South and North Block in New Delhi - the headquarters of the Indian defense establishment, with Rashtrapati Bhawan - the Presidential palace - in the backdrop. Yet, in this image from modern India, the buildings have not changed since Edwin Lutyen constructed them and even though the traffic may have gone up, little else has changed, for the women still need to collect firewood for their cooking fires in the heart of New Delhi and modern India. 18th January 2018.
