Tenzing Sangnyi was crowned Miss Tibet 2016 in a modest show at TIPA on Sunday night. Out-going Miss Tibet 2015 Pema Choedon passed on the crown to the new Miss Tibet. Jangchup Nyendak, the sponsor of the winner’s prize of one lakh (100,000 rupees), presented the cheque to Sangnyi. The youngest among the four contestants, Tenzin Dawa from New York, came in as the First Runner-up, while Tenzing Dickey from Bylakuppe was declared the Second Runner-up. They were presented cheques of 50,000 and 25,000 rupees respectively. Tenzing Dickey also won the Miss Photogenic 2016 contest, with 785 votes. Ms Usha Dobhal, a holistic healing counsellor, and Ms Sunita Singh, a yoga teacher, judged the four rounds in the Grand Finale, with about two thousand people in the audience.
