The culture was entirely Muslim. You had mushairas, and you had a red light area with courtesans, there were mujras. The sort of things the rich of the city indulged in. There was this sudden flood of Punjabis from all over. Western Punjab became Pakistan. Nearly 30% of the Muslim population went across to the other side, and suddenly there was a change in the language and a change in the way of living. Many of the craftsmen were Muslims.
