Chaukhamba Col ascent route traverses through treacherous glacial moraines and rock screes and mixed climbing grounds, with a combination of glacial ice, rock, fresh snow, scree and rockfall and avalanche danger zones, in the Garhwal Himalaya. Chaukhamba Col has been rarely traversed or climbed as it is tough of access and well off the beaten trekking path. Crunching one's feet through fresh snow on a snow field at around 16, 000 feet altitude in the western Himalaya, and then setting up camp and pitching tents at the end of a long day of trekking and climbing.
