The Archduke butterfly or the Lexias pardalis is a medium - sized, nymphalid butterfly. It's status is said to be 'Rare' in Isaac Kehimkar's 'The Book of Indian Butterflies,' and is mostly found in India, in Mizoram and Meghalaya, and in Myanmar. This butterfly is a swift and powerful flier which is usually confined to thick forests in hilly regions like Meghalaya where this particular specimen has been filmed in slow motion. It is attracted to overripe fruit and visits damp patches to mud puddle.
