Our art is eternal, our identity is from this and our existence from them. It is important to keep these arts alive and for that, we need to come up with such events and need the audience to bring these back to life. Sopan, the name given to this event means stairs which serve as a step ahead for these young talented artists to present their art form. Premananda Sahoo has been learning for the past many years at Gandhar Mahavidyalaya in Delhi. He is a graduate in fine arts from the Delhi College of Art. Battu is a pure dance piece which is said to have been derived from the influence of the tantric worship of Batukeshwar bhairav an aspect of Lord Shiva.
