The subcontinent was at peace, the aggression of 1962 was in the past as was the war of 1965. India was a nation on it's way to progress yet there were storm clouds brewing. The year was 1971, 1000 upon 1000s of refugees started pouring in from across the border in West Bengal. The atrocities of the west Pakistanis against their brother in East Pakistan had been mounting and India was concerned. India sought a peaceful resolution for the turmoil that was there across the international border. December 16, 1971, in all probability was and is a defining moment in Asian history. It was on this day, that Pakistan lost half its country, and its forces in the Eastern theatre, and had to publicly surrender to the Indians at Dhaka.
