Kerala beaches are amongst the best in India and are an excellent alternative to Goa. Some of the beaches remain relatively deserted. Kerala is not a new name to the sun-worshippers, the 550kms coastal line overlooking the majestic Arabian Sea is the catch of this stunning southern state of India. Studded with some impeccable beaches that are often marked with swaying palms, quaint lighthouses and multi-hued seashells, Kerala is a true paradise for nature lovers. Kerala is an Indian state occupying the south-west corner of the subcontinent. The topography of the coastline is distinctive and changes abruptly as one proceeds from north to south. In the northern parts of Kerala, in places such as Bekal, Thalassery and Kannur, the headlands rise above the shore from the fringe of the beaches.
