Gautam Rajadhyaksha: "Salman I have actually known as a school boy, because I was very friendly with Javed Akhtar and Salim saheb. Salman had just finished school at that time. Salim said ' Can you do something for him - give him some modelling jobs?' Salman used to come and assist and come to Lintas very often. Italian Vogue came to Lintas and wanted to do an Armani collection with Indians. They said 'Don't give us your usual model selection...' I said Salman was one of them whose face I liked very much. They give him a series of clothes to wear. His first printed pictures as a model were in Italian Vogue. Salman is one of the finest models we have ever had."
