This is one of the oldest bridges in Tamil Nadu stands as an example of engineering marvel of British Raj , The age of the bridge is 105 years , but still this is one of the strongest bridges in Tamil Nadu. The Albert Victor Bridge across the river, Vaigai is a main way of traffic between the southern and northern parts of Madurai.The traffic is oneway. The other way traffic is diverted through the new bridge constructed over the old Yanaikkal cause-way. There is not much water in the river during summer.
