This is a ritual in all Shiva Temples for Hindus. The purification of the Shivling is done by anointed priests or Pandits in the temples. The Shivling Puja includes the lighting of diyas and incense sticks to sanctify the Shivling. They chant religious script while performing the ritual. The priests go through certain rituals before the Shivling Puja.
