Jahaz Mahal or 'Ship Palace' in Mehrauli, Delhi

A lesser known monument in Delhi, Jahaz Mahal which translates to 'Ship Palace' was believed to be constructed by Sultan Iltutmish in the 1200's. It was named Jahaz Mahal because of the reflection it makes on the rippling waters of Hauz-e-Shamsi, a reservoir built by the emperor. The monument looks dilapidated with no proper renovations. The colours of the walls have been eaten up by natural elements and the blue ceramic plates on the towers have also chipped and lost their colour.
