Sheep can be reared as free range where there is no shortage of land or under housing inside a shed. Sheep in india are mostly maintained on natural vegetation or common grazing lands wastelands or uncultivated lands. Sheep are mostly reared for wool and meat. Sheep skins and manure constitute important sources of additional earnings, the latter particularly in southern India. These sheep seem to be clearing their pasture very quickly, and th land looks quite degraded.
