A lone sentinel Griffon Vulture soars high above a valley in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, on the look out for a dead goat or sheep, or other livestock animal, so that the rest of the vulture flock can join in the repast. The sheep in the shepherd's flock below keep calling out to each other. While the White-back and Long-billed Vultures in the plains were the most hit by the diclofenac veterinary drug which came into their systems through dead livestock, the Griffon's population was not really affected by this killer drug which wiped out nearly 99% of the plains populations of the White-backed Vulture.
