Galtaji Temple sits deep in an Aravalli gorge overlooking Jaipur’s dense cityscape

Galtaji Temple, popularly known as the Monkey Temple, is built deep inside a narrow gorge in the Aravalli Hills near Jaipur, Rajasthan. The historic complex features pink sandstone buildings, arched openings and haveli-style pavilions arranged along the rocky valley. Sacred kunds fed by natural springs lie at the base of the complex, while a paved route leads through the gorge toward the inner shrines. Beyond the green slopes, a vast spread of Jaipur’s low-rise buildings extends across the surrounding terrain. The Aravalli ridges remain visible in the distance through the hazy atmosphere, creating a contrast between the historic temple complex and the expanding city.
