At least 46 people found infected with HIV in a tehsil of Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh. A quack was booked over the allegations that he used the same syringe in the name of cheaper treatment. The common syringe was used to administer injections which led to the spurt in such cases. Media reports suggest that people visited a quack during the health camp who used a single syringe on everyone. Bangarmau's councillor Sunil while speaking to ANI said that there's a possibility that there are at least 500 such cases in the area. The Centre, meanwhile, has sent a team to Uttar Pradesh's Unnao to know more about the incident, even as the medical fraternity termed using of the same syringe a "criminal" act.
