The murthis of the famous Tirupati temple of Andhra Pradesh, which were brought to the capital for a special ceremony. The 'utsava murthis' or processional murthis of Lord Sri Venkateswara, Laxmi and Padmavati were placed on the grounds of Venkateswara College here for Kalyana Mahotsavam' puja, a symbolic wedding of Lord Balaji with Laxmi and Padmavati. To give the devotees a feel of the Lord Venakteswara temple at Tirupati, a replica of the temple is being erected on the grounds of Sri Venkateswara College in Dhaula Kuan. Since the idols are made of five metals and embedded with precious stones, there will be fool-proof police and fire protection. Lord Venkateswara is renowned as the most benevolent boon giver. The temple of Balaji has acquired sanctity in Indian religious lore. Tradition
