A day after the Himalayan quake shook Bihar too, the death toll rose to 51 with a powerful tremor hitting the State creating panic among residents. The magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit Nepal, about 76 km east south east of the capital Kathmandu, at a shallow depth of 10 km, the U.S. Geological Survey said. This, in turn, shook the Indian states too. The temblor was experienced in Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Kisanganj, East Champaran, Lakhisarai, Munger and many other parts of Bihar. Citizens rushed out of their houses in fear with the May 12 temblors fresh in their minds. To monitor the situation, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held meeting with top officials and later told journalists that 45-50 people have been killed in the quake in Bihar so far. “Government officials are on full alert and all mea
