Sea of poet literature, Rabindranath Tagore lives on through his ballets and musical compositions performed by numerous troupes across the country. Now the Delhi based Geetanjali Troupe is taking the ensemble to a land where Mahatma Gandhi began his experiments with truth. The troupe is on its way to a two-week tour of South Africa as part of the festival of India organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was the youngest son of Debendranath Tagore, a leader of the Brahmo Samaj, which was a new religious sect in nineteenth-century Bengal and which attempted a revival of the ultimate monistic basis of Hinduism as laid down in the Upanishads.
