The island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean is situated just north of the Tropic of Capricorn. It is approximately 855 km off the east coast of Madagascar with Africa being the nearest continent, it has a coastline of 330 km which is almost entirely surrounded by one of the largest unbroken coral reefs in the world. In the summer months, from November to April, the temperature varies from 20° C to 28° C on the Central Plateau and from 25° C to 36° C on the coast. English is the official language of the island, though you're bound to hear French, Créole (a mélange of French and various African dialects) and a smattering of Indian languages.
