Lady of Keylong glacier as seen from Keylong. It is called so for the lady like figure formed in the snow-clad mountains. Lady of Keylong is a famous glacier, situated at an altitude of 6061 m above sea level. It was christened so by 'Lady Elashainghday' about a century ago, during the British rule.Throughout the year it remains snow covered. There is a dark bare patch seen in the center, which resembles the figure of a woman walking with a load on her back. The glacier can be seen clearly from Keylong. Keylong (or Kyelong or Kyelang) is the administrative centre of the Lahaul and Spiti district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, 126 km (78 mi) north of Manali and 120 km (75 mi) from the Indo-Tibetan border.
