Former Minister of Textiles, Shri Kashiram Rana inaugurates the Golden Jubilee of "Handicrafts Resurgence in India". Former Indian President, Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam inaugurates the commemorative function of the Golden Jubilee of "Handicrafts Resurgence in India" on November 15, 2002. It was organised by the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts of the Ministry of Textiles in coordination with the Export Promotion Council for handicrafts and Craft Council of India. Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam honours 10 selected eminent craft persons as ‘Shilp Gurus’ for their exemplary conviction and dedication which put the handicrafts sector on the path of resurgence. The names of the selected craft persons for ‘Shilp Guru’ honour are Shri C. Parmeshwara Char (Karnataka) for wood carving; Shri V. Ganapat
