Indian Black Ants (Camponotus compressus) move along a sem phali vine, tending to clusters of aphids gathered on the plant stem. The ants make repeated contact with the aphids, collecting honeydew, a sugary secretion produced by the insects. In return, the ants remain nearby, offering protection from predators such as ladybirds and other insect threats. Aphids remain concentrated along the stem, feeding on plant sap while being attended by the ants. Close-up detail shows continuous interaction between the two species on the vine surface. This interaction represents a well-documented mutualistic, symbiotic relationship, where ants benefit from a consistent food source while aphids gain increased survival through protection. Camponotus compressus is a common ant species in India, often found
