Fragmentary panel of lime stone recovered from the excavations of Mahastupa, represents broadly three groups of figures reflecting upon greed, lust and power of human mind which are symbolically suggested as fateful as the bite of a cobra which would ultimately result in the re-birth of life in various forms which is an endless agony. Apart from Buddhist philosophy it reflects the social conditions of the contemporary period. A line of Brahmi inscription mentions as Yasanaka...... ka denoting the vyasanas i.e. the greed's of life. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) presented an exhibition, Rediscovering India 1961-2011, showcasing its achievements through excavations, popular monuments and successful conservation projects carried out from 1961 till 2011.
