The landscape of Bumthang, Bhutan where prayer flags are hosted infront of traditional bhutanese house. The surrounding are fenced and shrub bearing yellow flower. A prayer flag is a colourful rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside and for other purposes. Prayer flags have been part of Bhutanese people’s tradition, symbolizing the reality and pervasiveness of their belief. There are generally three types of printed prayer flags that is Lungdhar, Lhadhar and Mani or Baza Guru dhar which are inscribed with auspicious symbols, invocations, prayers, prints of Buddhist protectors and enlightened beings.
