It is the national game of Bangladesh, and Nepal and also the state game of the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Punjab. Kabaddi initially came from South India, became popular throughout South Asia, and has spread to Southeast Asia, Japan and Iran. It is known as hadudu in Bangladesh, baibalaa in Maldives, chedugudu in Andhra Pradesh and sadugudu in Tamil Nadu.
