Climbers test and arrange their ironmongery and other equipment into porter-loads before they start their journey to a higher camp on Mount Everest. Even as they look down, a huge avalanche hits the slopes above their camp, with a rain of snow and powdery ice that thunders down a rock chute. Indian Army added another feather to its cap in May 2001, when its mountaineers successfully scaled Mount Everest and put a record eight members and seven Sherpas on the summit. This is the largest number of summiteers on Mount Everest in an Indian expedition.
