Indian pilot preps for departure of an Indigo plane from Delhi Airport. IndiGo Airlines, well positioned low-cost private airline, modeled its business on providing highly efficient low-fare travel to the domestic passengers. Unlike other airlines which operate a variety of different aircraft, IndiGo Flights makes use of only one Aircraft, the 180 seater A320-200, for its operations. This reduces its operational overheads and fits well into its strategy of providing low fare travel on domestic routes. IndiGo Airlines buys only new aircraft. Currently, it has the fleet of 48 A320-200 aircrafts with an average age of about two and a half years making it one of the youngest fleet of aircraft operating from India. Another 232 aircrafts are set to join its fleet over a period of next 15 years.
