The Prince of Wales, Charles Philip Arthur George opens the XIX Commonwealth Games held in Delhi. He addresses the then President of India, Pratibha Patil and the crowd gathered at the opening ceremony of the multisport event. Then Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh is also present for the inaugural event. The Prince of Wales brings a message from Queen Elizabeth II for the Commonwealth Games 2010 which is read out by the Prince: " ... It is particularly fitting that the Commonwealth Games are being held in India. Recently we have celebrated the 60th anniversary of the London Declaration when Indian Independence brought into being the modern Commonwealth of Nations. Since then, it has grown from just under eight member countries to its present membership of 53 represented here today
