On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the whole nation paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion other than the Rajghat there several other places in the capital where citizens organised events to pay respect to the father of the nation. One of such program was held at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri where Padma Bhushan awardee Pandit V. R. Vyas remembered Gandhiji by presenting a classical ode by beginning the event by singing a prayer written by Gandhi Ji himself. Mahatma Gandhi, byname of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, (born October 2, 1869, Porbandar, India—died January 30, 1948, Delhi), Indian lawyer, politician, social activist, and writer who became the leader of the nationalist movement against the British rule of India. As such, he came to be considered the father of his country.
