Tamil Nadu is one of the most fascinating of Indian states sheltered in the southern peninsula where ancient Indian culture existed unfettered by external influences. The rich tradition of art and architecture flourished in Tamil Nadu catalyzed by the Pallava, Chola and Pandya kings. To any visitor to Tamil Nadu the architectural variety and artistic excellence starts and a capital city of Madras itself. The very traditional Indian town was founded by the British who built a little trading center and fort in 1640 AD on the on the Coromandel coast.
