Jet Airways plane skids off runway at Goa

About 161 passengers, including seven crew members, had a narrow escape, when a Jet Airways flight from Goa airport skid off the runway, while aligning for take off. The Goa-Mumbai early morning flight (9W2374) skid off the runway, while it was aligning itself for a take off. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated. A few Passengers have reportedly sustained injuries during the evacuation process. The airport, however, is shut till 12:30 leading to impacting airline operations out of Goa airport severely. The airport in Goa is owned by the Indian Navy and is not available through tour the day for commercial operations, as the Navy uses it for their training and other purposes.
