Railway level crossing operator waiting for a train to pass. This is a good old fashioned manual gate opening and switching system, unchanged since British times! Manual train signal and arrival confirmation system in place, over the railway phone line between stations in Uttar Pradesh, India. Viewer Sachin Perinthalakkat writes: "This seems to be on a railway line which is not part of the so called main line, or trunk routes. The magneto phone (with the handle etc.) seems to be newer model. I have seen older ones (with bells, instead of electronic beeps). The signal man/gate keeper seems to be taking down the arrival of a train. Most likely the gate would be non-interlocked."
