The 8th Northeast Tamchon Football Tournament kicked off with a colourful cultural extravaganza at the Ambedkar football stadium on 19th November 2014. Although chief guest Nabam Tuki the Chief Minister of Arunachal could not attend the Opening Ceremony, he sent the Advocate General of Arunachal Ranjit Thomas as his representative. The Delhi police commissioner sent Alok Kumar as the guest of honour. During the Opening Ceremony artist from different states enthralled the audience. The Manipuri pung chalom dance sent the crowd in a frenzy. While the Hmar Bamboo Dance performance drew huge appreciation from the crowd.
