On the day of Ashura, a large crowd of mourners in black gathers on a street in Old Delhi for the Dua-e-Ashura. Men kneel side by side on mats, many with red headbands, then bow in prostration and raise their open hands in prayer. Volunteers in high-visibility vests keep order behind a rope line as onlookers watch from the roadside. Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram, is observed by Muslims, especially Shia communities, as a day of remembrance and mourning for Imam Hussain. This footage shows the quiet, prayerful part of the day.
