A creepy crawly Centipede - or is it a millipede? See this whatever-it-is crawling around at the Corbett Ramganga Resort at Marchula, Uttarakhand, India. Centipedes are Anthropods. Chilopoda is the class that they belong to. They have one pair of legs per body segment because they are elongated metameric animals. Inspite of their name, the number of legs on their body range from 20 to 300. They always have odd pairs of legs but they never have an even number of pairs. Most centipedes are carnivorous taxon. Their colour varies from brown to red. Their size can range from a few millimeters to about 30 centimeters. They are able to sustain themselves in a large number of environments. There are supposedly 8000 species of centipede in the world. However, only 3000 of those have been identified
