The wide pedestrian walkway is filled with people walking in both directions beneath a clear blue sky. Along the left side, brick-fronted commercial buildings contain shops and businesses, including the Old Amsterdam Cheese Store, Tulip House, and a storefront displaying a Casino sign. A large dark-facade building occupies the right side of the street. Streetlights suspended from overhead wires cross the open avenue above the pedestrians. Damrak is a major central route connecting Amsterdam Central Station with Dam Square, with shops and historic buildings lining the busy street.
