Shillong also aptly called the east of Scotland is one of the cleanest places in Asia. Most of the Shillong population belong to the 'Khasi' tribe, who are predominantly Christian. Most of the houses are made in Assam style houses with slanting roofs, a large number of windows and wooden floors look like a piece of art. Shillong is subject to vagaries of the monsoon. The monsoons in Shillong arrive in June and it rains almost until the end of August. The climate is hot and humid during summers but quite cold during winters. October-November and March-April are the best months to visit Shillong.
