A Buddhist monk opens the door of buddhist monastery with the ancient lock to reveal ancient heart of Hemis buddhist monastery in Ladakh. The painting of north deity and west deity on the walls of the monastery, they are the heavenly gods who watches over one cardinal direction of the world. The monastery also have painting of Jamyang Karpo on the wall of the monastery. The visitors are not allowed to wear shoe inside the monastery. Inside the monastery the main status is the statue of lord Buddha. Hemis Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery (gompa) of the Drukpa Lineage, located in Hemis, Ladakh, India. Situated 45 km from Leh, the monastery was re-established in 1672 by the Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal. The annual Hemis festival honoring Padmasambhava is held here in early June. Sourc
