This is one of the monuments that still stand inside the Purana Qila in New Delhi. History has it that the masjid was started by the Mughal emperor Humayun. However with the defeat of Humayun in the hand s of Sher Shah Suri of the Suri Dynasty. The Suri Emperor Sher Shah Suri is believed to have completed the construction of this monument. A walk inside the monument, one can see the archway and pillars decorated with intricate carvings. The high ceilings of the dome and the walls are covered in carvings, calligraphy. The archway entrances are decorated with two layers, one of sandstone and of black and white marble covered in intricate, ornamental carvings.
