This dance form is performed by the Bhutia people to honour Yak, the animal Sikkim is mostly dependent on. This dance form depicts the lifestyle of the herdsmen of Sikkim. The Hindi word ‘Paryatan’ means ‘Tourism’ and we are delighted to share that according to a report by World Bank, India has emerged as the world’s 6th largest Tourism Economy. The Ministry of Tourism, India in collaboration with other Central Ministries, State Governments and Stakeholders is organising a “Paryatan Parv” across the country from the 16th to 27th September 2018. This festival or ‘Parv’ is being organised with the objective of drawing focus on the benefits of tourism, showcasing the cultural diversity of the country and reinforcing the principle of “Tourism for All”.
