Remembering the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice during 1947-48 war with Pakistan, ''Zojila War Memorial'' was today dedicated at Gumri to them. General Officer Commanding ''Forever in Operation '' Division dedicated the memorial at Gumri to the martyrs who achieved supreme sacrifice during 1947-48, a defence ministry spokesman said here today. Zojila, 102 km from here, located at an altitude 11578 feet above sea level, connects the Ladakh region with the Kashmir valley. The memorial stands testimony to the remarkable achievement of the Indian Army when they recaptured Zojila on November Ist 1948. Homage was paid to the martyrs by all ranks of Indian Army and various local civil dignitaries. Later the General Officer Commanding declared the memorial open to the public. Source: news.webi
