School girls and boys walk to school, school bags on their backs, in a neat straight line, in rural north India's Uttar Pradesh state. With varying heights, the students of different grades get received by one of the teachers at the school gate of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Public Junior High School in Uttar Pradesh Assembly means getting together on the dusty front field. Tow girls read the prayers while school male teachers keep discipline in check. Kids get up a recite. Do note the canes and sticks in the teachers' hands, although they do not seem to use them!
