Devotees take turns to light the clay lamps or Diyas at the Shri Jagannath Mandir on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. Despite the Covid restrictions and safety concerns, devotees are seen venturing out to the temple during this festival in Delhi. This ritual holds different meanings for different religious communities in North India. The lighting of lamps also signifies the triumph of one of lord Shiva's avatar against a demon. The festival is celebrated similarly to Diwali and called Deva Deepawali in some regions of North India.
